SCAT: Evaluierung von Satellitenkommunikationssystemen für den Einsatz in industriellen M2M-Anwendungen
Available communication channels via satellites are used for broadcast services (radio, television), for military and public purposes of navigation, global news services and terrestrial observations. In most cases, it is a one-way communication only, in which (mobile) devices receive data from the satellites.
In contrast, M2M or SCADA applications vial satellite systems are not available extensively. Due to the long physical transmission paths and intermediate relay stations, a satellite-based communication is at a disadvantage at this point in comparison to many terrestical radio systems.
The main project objective is to find out, if the data communication via satellite is sufficiently fast, predictable and can be guarantee the required high availability for industrial applications. This will be achieved by longterm measurements at selected satellite systems.
