The Institute Industrial IT (inIT) of the Technische Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe (TH OWL) took part in the 34th Computational Intelligence (CI) Workshop in Berlin from 20 to 22 November 2024 - an important meeting for researchers working on Machine Intelligence and its applications. The workshop was organised by the Computational Intelligence Forum (formerly GMA FA Computational Intelligence). The workshop covers a wide range of topics in the field of automation technology, including data-driven modelling, fuzzy models, process engineering, energy technology, automotive engineering, robotics, materials and production engineering and medical technology.

Presentation of the AI4ScaDa research results

inIT was prominently represented by Prof. Dr. Volker Lohweg and his research associates Christoph-Alexander Holst and Julian Bültemeier. Together with their research colleagues from Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences (HSBI) Marvin Schöne and Martin Kohlhase, they presented their work from the AI4ScaDa research project. Their contribution dealt with categorical optimised test planning, which is of particular benefit to small companies with limited amounts of data. This method promises to be groundbreaking for the data-poor acquisition of process knowledge in small and medium-sized companies in practice.

Young scientists welcome

The workshop offers not only experienced people from research and science, but also young scientists in particular a valuable platform to present work and discuss new ideas at an early stage in an open atmosphere. For this reason, those who would like to gain initial experience in writing and presenting existing results are particularly invited.

"This workshop is ideal for gaining initial experience in science. Critical questions are asked in a familiar environment, but the different perspectives of the members help enormously to improve oneself," says Julian Bültemeier, who took part in the workshop for the second time.
