Scientists from the AGH University of Krakow visit inIT

From 16 to 20 September, the Institute Industrial IT (inIT) of the Technische Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe (TH OWL) once again welcomed two renowned scientists from the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow. Prof. Dr. Andrzej Ożadowicz and Dr. Jakub Grela, both from the Chair of Power Electronics and Automation of Energy Systems in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Automation, Computer Science and Biomedical Engineering, spent a week at inIT to explore opportunities for future cooperation in research and teaching.

Exchange on research and industry projects

The AGH University of Krakow, one of the most renowned technical universities in Poland, is internationally recognised for its cutting-edge research. The research areas of Prof. Dr. Andrzej Ożadowicz and Dr. Jakub Grela include building automation, the Internet of Things (IoT) and smart cities. The two were invited by Prof. Dr. Lukasz Wisniewski, whose own research group at inIT focuses on digital transformation technologies. During their visit, they discussed potential joint projects and research plans in depth.

"We share many similar research interests and look forward to a promising collaboration in the coming years," emphasises Prof. Dr. Lukasz Wisniewski.

Tour of the Innovation Campus Lemgo

During their stay, the two scientists were given a comprehensive insight into the state-of-the-art research environment of the Innovation Campus Lemgo, including SmartFactoryOWL, Future Food Factory, Centrum Industrial IT (CIIT) and InnovationSPIN. They were particularly impressed by the advanced infrastructure and the dynamic research atmosphere. The close interdisciplinary collaboration and the short communication channels on the campus were emphasised.

"The Innovation Campus Lemgo is an ideal place for the exchange of ideas. The close link between research and application is literally in the air here," says Dr. Jakub Grela.

Future cooperation

The talks focussed on future collaborations, particularly in the areas of intelligent building automation and energy efficiency. An exchange programme for doctoral students is already planned for the coming year in order to further intensify scientific collaboration. "We are looking forward to tackling specific projects together soon," concluded Prof. Dr. Andrzej Ożadowicz.
