Already today there is an important center for digitalization and intelligent automation on the campus of OWL University of Applied Sciences. Established institutes are Fraunhofer Application Center (IOSB-INA), SmartFactoryOWL and CENTRUM INDUSTRIAL IT (CIIT).
The now intended Innovation Campus Lemgo shall connect further players like, e.g. Lipperlandhalle, vocational colleges and educational cooperatives. Involved are Hanse Berufskolleg Lemgo, Berufskolleg Lemgo Lüttfeld, Lippe Bildung, Stadt Lemgo and Lippe Wirtschaft. The appearance of the campus will change significantly with the further settlement of research institutes and companies.
Increasing the attractiveness of the whole district is one of the project goals. In addition, technology transfer shall be accelerated and international visibility increased. Also innovation and competitiveness of the regional industry shall intensify. For this reason the project was presented at the future forum Lippe in Detmold. Representatives from Lippe, including regional council Marianne Thomann-Stahl and district administrator Axel Lehmann, agreed: Projects like these play a leading role in the ideal connection of science, industry and education. The qualification of skilled employees benefits from the emerging synergies.
