The 14th edition of KommA once again offered the more than 40 participants in Magdeburg a broad spectrum of contributions and discussions on the topic of industrial communication.
After the welcoming address by conference co-chair Professor Dr. Ulrich Jumar (ifak e.V.), Frank Hakemeyer (Phoenix Contact) kicked things off with his plenary lecture on "Industrial Wireless - between research, marketing and practice".
This was followed by short poster presentations, including topics such as the real-time capability of industrial 5G systems, simulations of 5G TSN bridges, LoRaWAN range extensions, localization techniques in industrial environments and more.
The event also included presentations on various aspects of wireless communication in industry, the implementation of asset administration shells, as well as possible applications of 5G in automated monorail vehicles (MonoCAB) and factories.
The keynote presentation by Dr. Lisa Underberg (ifak e.V.) on "Towards Wireless Communications in Automation: An Overview", highlighted the various facets of wireless communication.
The presentations were followed by a guided tour of the Gruson greenhouses on the first evening, followed by an evening event in the Elbelandhaus, which provided an opportunity for informal discussions. The Gruson Greenhouses are a botanical garden in Magdeburg and contain an important collection of plants dating back to the 19th century.
The conference ended with a closing speech and an invitation to KommA 2024 in Lemgo by the conference co-chair Professor Dr. Jürgen Jasperneite (inIT of TH-OWL/Fraunhofer IOSB-INA).
Overall, KommA 2023 provided a comprehensive platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience in the field of current industrial communication topics.
