Opening and Welcome by Prof. Dr. Jürgen Jasperneite
The conference was chaired by Prof. Dr. Ulrich Jumar (ifak) and Prof. Dr. Jürgen Jasperneite (inIT and Fraunhofer IOSB-INA), who guided participants through the program. Prof. Dr. Jürgen Jasperneite opened the event, welcomed the participants, and emphasized the special atmosphere of the colloquium as a "family reunion" of experts: “We are very happy to welcome so many experts here at our Innovation Campus in Lemgo for KommA 2024. We value the open exchange of knowledge, the opportunity to set new impulses, and the chance to critically discuss the technologies of the future, especially in economically challenging times.”
Keynote: Omlox Standard for Real-Time Localization Systems
A highlight of this year's KommA was the keynote by Eberhard Wahl, Managing Director of TRUMPF Tracking Technologies, on the topic "Interoperable Real-Time Locating Systems for All: An Introduction to the Omlox Standard." He highlighted the importance of the open and vendor-neutral Omlox standard, which will significantly advance real-time localization in industry and facilitate the production of networked, location-based solutions.
Presentations and Poster Session: Advances in Industrial Communication and Automation
The colloquium featured 21 expert presentations, divided into four thematic sessions: New Technologies, Asset Administration Shell and Digital Twin, Performance Evaluations, and Security and System Integration. Topics ranged from the integration of 5G in industrial applications to technologies for digital twins and safety-critical communication systems.
The poster session promoted intense exchange and deeper discussions, further establishing KommA as a valuable platform for practical insights and solid research results.
Program of the inIT Annual Colloquia 2024
The evening before the colloquium, the joint evening program with the partner colloquium on "Image Processing in Automation" (BVAu) took place. The guests first visited the All Electric Society Park of Phoenix Contact in Blomberg, where they could experience interactive demonstrations of sustainable energy solutions in practice. The day concluded with a conference dinner at the Kesselhaus of the former Kondor aircraft factory in Lemgo, offering a chance to network and socialize in a relaxed atmosphere.
Conclusion and Passing of the Baton: Farewell to Prof. Dr. Ulrich Jumar
At the end of KommA 2024, Prof. Dr. Ulrich Jumar, who is retiring, officially passed the baton of co-chairing the KommA to his successor, Prof. Dr. Lisa Underberg, who recently took over leadership at ifak. “It has been a pleasure and an honor to help shape KommA for so many years. With Prof. Dr. Lisa Underberg, an experienced successor takes over the co-chair alongside Prof. Dr. Jürgen Jasperneite and will enrich KommA with new ideas,” said Prof. Dr. Jumar.
Invitation to KommA 2025 in Magdeburg
Prof. Dr. Lisa Underberg invited all attendees to the next KommA, which will be held on November 11-12, 2025, in Magdeburg.
