Moderated by the head of the Institute Industrial IT (inIT), Prof. Dr. Henning Trsek, the attendees received a warm welcome from Maren Krüger, St. Johann’s pastor and host, Mayor Markus Baier, Vice President Prof. Dr. Uta Pottgiesser, Dean Prof. Dr. Thomas Schulte, and Community Manager Anuj Dalvi, who supports the international students. A highlight of the evening was the city tour, which offered the students a chance to get to know their new, historically rich home better. A big thank you goes to Prof. Dr. Jürgen Jasperneite and his team for successfully organizing this inspiring event. During a delightful buffet, students had numerous opportunities to meet new fellow students and engage in conversations with professors. The international students particularly took the chance to share their challenges regarding housing in Lemgo directly with the mayor. Due to limited housing availability, many are forced to rent apartments e.g. in Bielefeld, which, coupled with unreliable train connections, hinders their participation in academic life.
We wish all new students much success and joy on their academic journey! May they feel so at home that they choose to stay in the region as professionals after graduation. Welcome to the Innovation Campus Lemgo – we look forward to an inspiring time together!
