Further developing user-centred healthcare and rehabilitation: ISy-CARE from OWL selected for funding

With its idea, the ISy-CARE project team of various partners from OWL prevailed among almost 500 outlines submitted from all over Germany and was selected as one of only 20 DATIpilot innovation communities to receive funding of over 5 million euros from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The partners want to implement sustainable innovations in the healthcare and rehabilitation sectors with their community over the next four years. The Institute Industrial IT (inIT) and the Applied Health Sciences (AHS) research cluster are also involved.

ISy-CARE aims to accelerate the development of technological innovations in the healthcare sector.

The project "Integrated socio-technical systems for user-centred care" (ISy-CARE) aims to contribute to a healthcare system in East Westphalia-Lippe (OWL) that is adapted to current challenges. It will be supported over the next four years as part of the DATIpilot funding programme of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The overarching aim of the new funding guideline is to better utilise Germany's innovative strength and accelerate the development of technological and social innovations. In the "Innovation Communities" funding line, existing networks with a common innovation topic and field of practice in a region are to be strategically bundled and further developed. The ISy-CARE project will connect numerous partners from the health and care sector in the OWL region and systematically expand the existing networks.

In addition to the Centre for Innovation in the Healthcare Industry OWL (zig), the management team includes Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences (HSBI) with the CareTech OWL research network, Technische Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe (TH OWL) with inIT and Applied Heath Sciences, the v. Bodelschwinghschen Stiftungen Bethel, Klinikum Lippe and Connext GmbH. Other partners from practice, science and business are involved in various sub-projects. In addition to establishing community management, the aim is to realise specific research, transfer and innovation projects with the respective practice partners, including Bielefeld University and Paderborn University.
