The day started with #yesyoucan - here you are the leader. After getting to know each other and discovering common interests in languages and travel, the participants tackled their first task: soldering. Under the guidance of Sergej Grunau, a research assistant at inIT, the students worked in teams to learn how to solder and create glowing hearts. They helped each other and overcame initial difficulties.
In the afternoon, Leonie Dieckhöner, Junior HR Business Partner at Peter Lacke GmbH, spoke about her career and inspired the students to engage in a lively discussion about their own career goals. Elementary topics such as salary, flexibility and business trips were discussed in depth.
In the workshop that followed, the students worked under time pressure to build the tallest towers possible using spaghetti, masking tape, string and marshmallows. They learned that planning, execution, failure and restarting are important elements of successful teamwork. The tallest tower reached an impressive 39 centimetres. The final evaluation highlighted the importance of transparent communication, overcoming the fear of failure and having the courage to try new things.
These insights are also fundamental elements of the "Digital Management Solutions" degree programme at the BildungsCampus Herford, in which Prof. Dr. Lukasz Wisniewski is actively involved. Kristina Rein, organiser of Girls' Day, sums up: "The girls not only gained insights into leadership, but also learned the importance of teamwork and social skills. These practical experiences are central to our study programme".
Der Girls‘ Day 2024 der TH OWL am BildungsCampus Herford zeigte eindrucksvoll, wie praxisnahes Lernen und Teamarbeit die Basis für erfolgreiche Führungskräfte von morgen legen können.
