Electrical Engineering faculty in Lemgo again rated number 1 in NRW for its research strength

In which subjects a NRW university in a state wide comparison is particularly successful? Where is a demand for optimization in research and teaching? And what has changed in recent years with respect to the performance of individual institutions? The updated analysis grid of NRW universities gives answers to these questions. The Electrical Engineering and Computer Science department of the OWL University belongs for many years to the best research-oriented faculites at German universities. The Institute of Industrial Information Technology (inIT) makes an important contribution to this success. "At the EECS-department at OWL we combine the benefits of an study at a University of Applied Sciences with its practise-orientation and high quality teaching, and the research strength of a university", said inIT director Professor Jürgen Jasperneite. In his view, students can benfit directly from this research strength, as they already gain experience in research projects while studying and benefit from highly up-to-date lectures and a excellent lab infrastructure. An example is the 2016 opened SmartFactoryOWL, a joint research and demonstration factory of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and the OWL University.
