The PhD students at archery - a highlight of the social programme.

On 18 and 19 November 2024, the members of the SAIL network met in Bad Sassendorf for the annual SAIL Retreat, including numerous project participants from the Institute Industrial IT (inIT) at the Technische Hochschule OWL (TH OWL). The aim of the meeting was to deepen the exchange on the PhD projects, to evaluate the project status and to further develop SAIL’s strategic direction. Two days of intensive scientific discourse, exciting presentations and a joint social programme strengthened interdisciplinary collaboration and team spirit.

This year, the PhD student presentations were spread over two days, giving the participants more time to get to know each other and engage in personal discussions. In particular, the archery team activity provided a welcome opportunity to socialize in a relaxed atmosphere away from the scientific discussions.

A central point of the retreat was the General Board Meeting, during which the coordination team presented the current status of the project. The representatives of the Universities of Bielefeld and Paderborn, the Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSBI) and the Technische Hochschule (TH OWL) took the opportunity to evaluate the progress of the project and to define further goals and plans for the remaining project period.

The two days of the retreat were very enriching for all participants and provided a positive outlook for future collaboration. The project participants are convinced that face-to-face meetings are very valuable for the network in order to increase the dynamics of the research projects.
