Industrial communication has its roots in Germany and has been the backbone of every decentralized automation system for more than 20 years. Under the heading Industry 4.0, intelligent networking will continue to play a very important role in the future. However, the use of information technologies, which were often designed with a different background than their use in the industrial environment, also poses new challenges. With a view to
typical for Industry 4.0, the importance of reliable and secure communication
and secure communication systems.
The two research institutes ifak e.V. in Magdeburg and the Institute for
Industrial Information Technology (inIT) at the Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences in Lemgo are dedicating the annual specialist colloquium "Communication in Automation (KommA)" to this important topic. It is held alternately in Magdeburg and Lemgo and is a forum for science and industry in the German-speaking region on all technical and scientific issues relating to industrial communication. The expert committee on real-time systems of the Gesellschaft für Informatik e.V. (GI) and the Informationstechnische Gesellschaft im VDE (ITG) support the annual colloquium scientifically and ideally. Contributions from the broad application field of industrial communication are welcome as well as technology and methodological oriented papers.
