AI and skilled trades - a pioneering combination
On Tuesday, AICommunityOWL once again hosted one of its regular AI get-togethers. This time, the event was organised jointly with the Paderborn-Lippe District Craftsmen's Association and the AI Academy OWL and took place in the Me Lounge in Lemgo. The focus was on the question: How can Artificial Intelligence (AI) support the skilled trades and what potential does it offer?
Inspiring exchange in a relaxed atmosphere
Interested parties from society, science, business and the skilled trades came together to discuss the synergies between AI and traditional trades. The regulars' table regularly offers a platform for interdisciplinary dialogue in a relaxed atmosphere. Possible applications, challenges and opportunities of AI technologies are discussed in a relaxed atmosphere.
Prof. Dr. Markus Lange-Hegermann, co-initiator of AICommunityOWL and board member of the Institute Industrial IT (inIT) at Technische Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe (TH OWL) and other experts provided valuable input on current developments and invited participants to engage in open dialogue. The lively participation emphasised the growing interest in AI technologies and their increasing relevance for a wide range of industries - especially for the skilled trades.
"AI can by no means replace the skilled trades, but it is able to definitely provide valuable support and relief in many areas. The exchange is therefore essential in order to find out together where and how AI may be used sensibly," emphasised Markus Lange-Hegermann.
About the AI Academy OWL
The AI Academy OWL aims to help shape the development of AI responsibly. It highlights the risks of large-scale AI models - for example in terms of data protection, energy consumption or transparency - and at the same time develops alternative, data-saving and practical solutions with a focus on individualisation and inclusion. A special feature is its interdisciplinary approach: technical expertise is combined with social science and humanities perspectives in order to promote AI expertise in a holistic manner. In this way, the academy supports small and medium-sized companies as well as educational institutions and individuals. The little owl in the pictures represents the OWL region.
