Ceremonial Farewell for 169 Graduates

The departments of Electrical Engineering and Technical Informatics organized a ceremonial farewell for the graduates of the last year. Besides the top students also two PhD-students were awarded who have successfully finished their doctoral theses.

169 students of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Technical Informatics have successfully finished their studies in the last year. The graduates of the five Bachelor courses and four Master courses followed the invitation and attended together with their relatives the ceremonial farewell on 2. December where they received their degree certificates. 130 students successfully finished their Bachelor’s Degree, 39 their Master’s Degree.

Prof. Uwe Meier, Dean of the Department Electrical Engineering and Technical Informaticss guided through the evening. Guest lecturer was Stefan Schwalowsky who gave a presentation about “Bachelor – Master – Research – Industry. Is a Master’s Degree and working in research worth the effort? Schwalowsky finished the diploma program Electrial Engineering of the OWL University in 2007 and his Master’s Degree in Information Technology in 2009. Today he is working at WAGO Kontakttechnik GmbH & Co. KG in the field of Automation Development.

The best students of the year were awarded and received 500 Euros each for their excellent performances. These students of the bachelor courses are: Niklas Brand (Mechanical Engineering), Marc Neu (Mechatronics), Maria Schaffer (Future Energies), Malte Schmidt (Electrical Engineering) and Daniel Bökehof (Technical Informatics). The best Master’s Graduates are: Alexander Hinkelmann (Mechanical Engineering), Maximilian Brinkmann and Dominik Uhlenbusch (both Mechatronical Systems), Tim Voigt (Electrical Engineering) and Konrad Baran (Information Technology). The awards were provided by business partners of the Department and the Hochschulgesellschaft.

Uwe Mönks and Lukasz Wisniewski from Institute Industrial IT (inIT) of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Technical Informatics have successfully finished their PhD-program. They were also awarded. Professor Volker Lohweg and Professor Jürgen Jasperneite supervised the doctoral theses in cooperation with the Universities of Bochum and Magdeburg.

The “Brick Town Band” of Lage Music School framed the ceremony musically. The evening concluded with a party at the dining hall.
