The invention relates to a method for creating a statistical experimental design for an investigation on a drive system of a motor vehicle, comprising the steps of: Selecting an initial test space for performing at least one measurement on the drive system, determining at least one boundary test space by defined exploration of the initial test space, and generating the statistical design of the test within the boundary test space. The present invention further relates to a computer program product (10) and a computing unit (100) for performing the method according to the invention.
